Glow with the flow – my five step sexual self care challenge for a healthy, horny, vibrant you!

Posted on 19/04/2017

Self care is about actively empowering yourself in ways that maximise your well-being. The more you nurture your family life, career or physical body by making positive emotional and practical choices, the happier and healthier you’ll be. But it’s also vital to prioritise yourself sexually to optimise your creative potential, personal expression and satiation.

Looking after yourself sexually has nothing to do with being selfish. In fact, quite the opposite is true – the better you feel, the easier it’ll be to connect with sex partners. You’ll find yourself offering more on every level, with greater engagement and mutual satisfaction. It’s like a big, bountiful, pulsating figure 8 of giving and receiving, and it starts with YOU.

Sexual self care is arguably the most important factor in developing healthy sexual esteem. It’s how you build a positive sexual self image that results in greater self-acceptance, self-confidence, personal authenticity, sense of deservedness and self-love. And there’s more to this than just looking after your sexual health by practising safer sex and observing good hygiene. We’re talking about being really mindful with your choices here, fully owning your sex and sexuality and becoming the best version of your sexual-self you can possibly be.

So here’s my five step sexual self care challenge – follow these tips and I guarantee you’ll be glowing with sexual flow by the end of the month.

Indulge in some sexual self care and feel like a siren!

Indulge in some sexual self care and feel like a siren!

Do at least one fabulous thing for your body every day

Let’s get this straight. Ensuring you feel at your hottest and most desirable has nothing to do with your weight, whether your back’s too hairy or any other physical imperfection you think gets in the way. This is all about developing body confidence and cherishing the gifts nature has bestowed upon you.

Whether it’s booking a massage, sweating it out in the sauna, doing your kegels or tweaking your diet, identify something practical that feels helpful to your physical body. Focus on the difference it’s going to make sexually and prepare to be wowed by the results. Once you see how easy it is to grow more body confident by appreciating yourself like this you’ll be inspired to continue.

Try a new sex toy

There’s nothing like the fresh sensations of a new experience to reawaken your sexual curiosity. This is part of your personal discovery – the fun of choosing is as important as the act of trying out the toy itself. It’s something just for you that you’ve selected especially to meet your sexual needs. How great does that make you feel and what have you learned about your sexual self in the process? Take a look at Knicker Rocker Glory’s range of sex toys here.

Raise that pulse

It doesn’t matter if you’d prefer a brisk walk, a yoga class, 10 lengths in the pool or a personal training session. Anything that raises your pulse rate will boost your circulation, releasing those all important endorphins for the feel good factor. And, trust me, once your heart is thumping and those muscles are flexing, you’ll want to make the most of all that extra energy and flexibility!

Grab some raw choc

The better your mood, the more you’ll be in the mood. Whether it’s about science or the power of suggestion, people have been using aphrodisiac foods to tempt and tantalise for centuries. The key here is to choose something that really appeals – forget those slimy oysters if a red hot chilli is more your thing. Seriously though, science does suggest that the high levels of some very magical chemicals like serotonin (stress busting), phenylethylamine (love) and anandamide (bliss) in raw Cacao make it the superfood for sexual stimulation and joyful feelings.

Self cultivate

The ancient Taoists referred to masturbation as ‘self cultivation’ but there’s much more to your sexual learning and growth than the physical side (although this really helps so please don’t hold back). Make it your mission to learn more about sex and more about the sex that’s perfect for you. Arm yourself with intimate information about the aspects of sex and sexuality you’d like to explore. Read, watch some Ted talks or You-tube videos, ask me a ‘Sexpert’ question or join a discussion forum to interact with like-minded peeps. Stimulate the mind and the body will follow.

If this post has whet your appetite for more information, you’d like some tips on tantalising techniques or have a specific question about sex, love or relationships, drop me a line via our Ask a Sexpert service!

Have fun!
